Chapter 1

Some other books say that these Vampys
aren’t hurt by the sun. Instead – they SPARKLE! Now, how weird is that! Anyway, this one atleast seems a digestible enough excuse for those people [shall I actually call them that?] to only come out at night. Oh, anyway.
None of my business, is it?). And yeah, I’m not a wizard or a giant or a fire-breathing dragon or even a mind reading alien. No, I’m none of those. Though, I’ll have to admit, I’m not human either. Let me introduce myself. I’m Koochi, Appi’s stuffed bear. Snowy-white, fluffy fur with stupid red hearts etched all over, no bones, mismatched ears -- one slightly lopsided and small, other flappy and big, the size of a newborn baby’s fist. Beady round black eyes, which actually are two big black beads that are sewed there on my slightly squashed looking face. In case you’re wondering, who is this Appi I’m talking about, you’ll know her better soon enough. Now, let me launch into the story. Appi, unlike me, is a human (more or less). She’s was seventeen when she got me as her birthday present. Yeah, I know seventeen is a bit old to be playing with teddy bears. But well, it’s Appi I’m talking about so… Anyway, she didn’t have any idea when she first set eyes on me what or who exactly I was.

suddenly I was surrounded by a thick cloud of glittering mist. The next thing I knew, I was being squeezed into that teddy bear I was eyeing curiously a moment ago. And since then, I haven’t been able to get out of this furry body if mine. Okay okay! I lied. I wasn’t some dashing prince with a hundred kingdoms. To tell you the truth, I don’t remember who I was before this. I was definitely human, that much I’m sure of. But I haven’t got a clue about anything else from my non-furry past. Anyway, you have to admit I’m good at telling stories. You did believe me when I told you about my wicked third cousin, twice removed and my wicked auntie and her curse-dust damning my spirit to roam around the earth for all eternity. Hee hee!
