My verdict
It's all about Dystopian books this month, and I thought why not try a genre I haven't really given much consideration to apart from maybe a couple of titles I read a loooong while back. One of them being The Host by Stephanie Meyer, which I'm quite fond of by the way, though not a single person I've ever met has anything good to say about the book. Honestly, even I don't know why I like it. Something just clicked maybe.
Anyway, back to Cinder. I hadn't really tried any books that had fairy tales remixed/retold and was a little bit skeptical about this. But after reading the general synopsis, I thought to give it a try. I though it would probably be just a retelling of Cinderella with a sci-fi touch. And...that's definitely not what I found.
Fairy tale, fantasy, spaceships, cyborgs, werewolves, plague, post world war IV, bio-electric manipulation (or magical powers if you will)... really? That's just too many of my favorite things all perfectly, beautifully put together in a single book. It was impossible for me not to fall in love with it at once. Its not just the plot or the storyline that makes a good book, the writing style and narration matters hell of a lot to me. Marissa Meyer has truly got me captivated with The Lunar Chronicles. I'm currently halfway through Scarlet and really really despondent over how much I'll have to wait to lay my hands on a copy of Cress! 2014! So far away!
