Airtel 4G at 3G Rates | What would YOU do with it?
12:07 PM
I think most of the readers in India must have heard about Airtel launching its 4G network. At 3G rates. Excited much? Read on.
So here's a question Airtel asked, that I'm way too glad to answer in this post. I've been frustrated too long with my Vodafone network that gives 2G speed (sometimes not even that) at 3G data subscription, with their ever increasing prices. I even shifted to 2G data, thinking if I'm anyway going to get 2G then why continue to pay for 3G. Wrong move. The 2G simply refuses work at all. I'm not here to write a rant on Vodafone (or any other network provider) and praise Airtel. I need value for my money. Don't we all?
Now, my brother has Airtel, I have Vodafone. My brother has a 3G phone. I have a 4G phone (my OnePlus One. Ha!). See the unfairness of it all?
Okay. Just kidding. I'll be switching over to Airtel pretty soon. I have been hesitating for the sole reason that I wanted to retain my current number and filling up forms for mobile number portability, waiting and conversing with multiple customer care executives gives me a headache before I even start. But 4G? Retaining my number or getting a new one, I am switching over.
Stuff that Airtel boasts about regarding the nationwide rollout of the 4G services:
- Airtel 4G is the first telecom operator to roll out 4G services
- Nationwide rollout across 296 cities
- 4G available at 3G prices
- Getting a 4G SIM is just a tweet away - #GetAirtel4G
- Free home deliverey of 4G SIM
Free home delivery of the SIM sounds nice. If it can get activated as fast as their regular SIM does (within 2 hours, in my brother's case an year ago), awesome.
Airtel asks...
What will you do with these unbelievable speeds under your hood?
What will I do? That is a question I don't even have to think about before answering (and I think a lot). Instagram. That's what.
Oh, speaking of Instagram, here's the latest shot from my feed. Do visit my account (@AparnaSingh27) and follow if you like it!
Loading all those pictures on my feed and under my favorite hashtags with a slow internet is a serious pain in the behind. I usually just close the app after scrolling and waiting a little. If their 4G is actually as fast as they claim and on 3G prices, my Instagram addiction's going to need help pretty soon.
And TEDTalks. I love streaming TEDTalks whenever I get wifi access. No, I couldn't even imagine doing that on mobile data.
And of course, how could I forget Pinterest? That's actually the most data hungry, slow to load and my absolute favorite app among all those I have on my phone. Closely followed by Issuu and StumbleUpon.
Now over to you. Tell me what would you do "with these unbelievable speeds under your hood"?
