Fort Totten, North Dakota is a modest place. Although nobody knows it, the small college town is owned almost entirely by one man with a simple rule—if you occupy his land, then pay your rent.

During the dead of winter, the landlord opens up his frigid doors to four houses, with four bad apples. A tenant in each house is maliciously murdered. Motive seems clear. But is it? Not even local police can escape the wrath and reign of the landlord. Only one man knows why.

Whether in the form of money, remorse, or death, the landlord always collects his rent.

About the author

William Press, author of “The Landlord,” is an odd duck that loves writing literary fiction and analyzing real life data. He was born in Watertown, Wisconsin--a place rooted in German-Irish heritage and dairy farms. (He has never tipped or milked a cow.) He began writing morbid fictional material in notebooks as a youth when Atari gave way to Nintendo. His love for entertainment beamed him from Wisconsin to Southern California, where he resides with his wife and two sons.

When he isn’t penning horrific books, he’s reading, writing movie scripts, or enjoying family time. When he isn’t doing any of that, he’s off somewhere arguing that maybe the sword actually is mightier than the pen.
