Naomi Carson is a survivor. As a child, her family was torn apart by a shocking crime. It could have destroyed her, but Naomi has grown up strong, with a passion for photography that has taken her all around the world.
Now, at last, she has decided to put down roots. The beautiful old house on Point Bluff needs work, but Naomi has new friends in town who are willing to help, including Xander Keaton - gorgeous, infuriating and determined to win her heart.
But as Naomi plans for the future, her past is catching up with her. Someone in town knows her terrifying secret - and won't let her forget it. As her new home is rocked by violence, Naomi must discover her persecutor's identity, before it's too late.

The verdict
I absolutely love Nora Robert's writing. The Obsession was no exception. I loved how strong Naomi was as a little girl and how she grows up to be even stronger of a person.
"You saved a life before your twelfth birthday. Don’t ever forget that."
The story sucked me in quite early on in the book. It's been a little while since that happened! Though I soon figured out who the killer was, eh... it didn't take away the fun nonetheless. I enjoyed the suspense throughout more than I thought I would.
Back to the characters. I love how detailed and full of depth Nora Robert's characters are. This has been consistent in almost every book I have read by her. While Xander fell a bit into the cliche alpha male category (only a bit though), I loved the depth there as well. Caring dude, a reader, nerd, lead-guitarist? Gimmie! And Naiomi. The ugly stuff she went through, the way she grew up stronger from that and developed into this smart, strong (did I say this already?) and independent woman... It was refreshing to see her passion for her career, her photography. I loved the interactions between the characters and how realistic and believable those were.
To sum it up, good writing, great characters. Go read it, if you like suspense. Definitely go read it, if you're already a Nora Roberts fan.
