The verdict
I had been eagerly waiting for The Aftermath to release for the past few months, and boy was I in for a treat! The Aftermath was all the goodness The Hurricane had been, and so much more. Am I even making any sense?
I haven't been getting
I would randomly burst out laughing or tilt my head to the side (infinitesimally) and go 'awww' in the metro (train/subway). I might have come across as a lunatic to non-readers around me (totally). Did I care? Nope nope.
When I read The Hurricane earlier, I couldn't guess for a second that it was R. J. Prescott's debut novel. The writing style is that good. So was the case with The Aftermath. A fast paced, quick read, with not a single page of 'boring', Con and Em's story kept me turning the pages. Sure, there were a few cliches thrown in there, but then I've never read a single romance novel without them.
What was even better in The Aftermath, after having read the prequel, was that it is written in Con's POV. So gritty and intense. I loved it. And... okay I don't really know how to go about with this review without divulging any spoilers. Gah!
Just take my word for it, if you will. If you've read and loved The Hurricane, just go dive into The Aftermath. Now. Period.
Oh and this conversation. It's going to go on a wall in my room:
“There is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, and truth.”
“Which wolf wins?”
“The one you feed.”
